Designing a Timeless, Contemporary Home for a Young Family.
For this design project, I had the pleasure of working with a young family who had recently purchased a new townhouse. The space was built with in a traditional style, complete with intricate paneling, and they were looking to blend this classic architectural feature with furnishings that were both contemporary and captivating.
Together, we developed a harmonious color palette of soft neutrals, accented with elegant tones of grays, purples, and beiges, which laid the foundation for the design. Custom-designed pieces became the focal points of the home, like the curved living room sofa and the travertine and brass coffee table, both of which add a modern edge to the traditional style. We also sourced exquisite Italian furnishings and added unique pieces from the 1930s, giving the space a curated, timeless feel. A standout feature in the dining room is the silk-patterned fabric on the walls, adding texture and sophistication.
The final result was a serene, beautifully layered home that the family absolutely loves. It’s a peaceful retreat filled with interesting and thoughtful pieces that truly bring the townhouse to life, blending both contemporary flair and traditional charm seamlessly.
